Guest Speaker: Jeff Sakaguchi
Jeff Sakaguchi is a seasoned executive, board leader, and business advisor. He is a recognized authority on business strategy, innovation and disruptive technology, and positioning companies to capitalize on emerging opportunities. He is currently the chairman of the board for True Blue, Inc., a publicly-traded industrial staffing and recruitment process outsourcing company. Jeff is a member of the boards of Eccentex, Inc., an early-stage knowledge management SaaS/PaaS company, and ThinkIQ, an early-stage, venture-backed advanced manufacturing intelligence and optimization software company.
Jeff was formerly a founding member of the board of directors for ACT Holdings, Inc., a privately-held business process outsourcing company in debt collection, call center management, and revenue-cycle management, and was the chairman of the board of Neah Power Systems (now XNRGI), an advanced battery and fuel cell development and manufacturing company.
Jeff was appointed to, and formerly chaired, the National Philanthropic Board of the American Red Cross, on which he served for 12 years and is now an emeritus member. He was also a member and former chairman of the board of directors of the Los Angeles Region of the American Red Cross, and served on the Board Governance, Biomedical, Philanthropy, and PrepareSoCal committees over his 18 years on the board.
Jeff was honored in 2022 as a “Director of the Year” by the Puget Sound Business Journal. He is a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) and is an NACD Certified Director and Leadership Fellow. Jeff is also frequently sought as a panelist for a variety of board governance topics.
Previously, Jeff was the President and Chief Operating Officer for Evolution Robotics Retail, an early-stage technology company, and a senior partner with Accenture, a global management consulting and technology company. Prior to that, he was a senior engagement manager for McKinsey & Company, a global management consulting firm. He was also an engineering manager with Chevron Corporation, was an appointed Commissioner of the White House Initiative on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, and is a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors. He graduated with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he played soccer and club volleyball, and has an M.B.A. from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He was also a professional ski instructor in the Pacific Northwest.
